Distribution. Grows wild in China, Yunnan and Sichuan provinces, mountain pine forests, 2900 m - 3200 m above sea level.
Morphology. Elderberry rodgersia is perennial, wintergreen, 120 cm high, strong-growing caulescent plant belongs to the Saxifragaceae family. Leaves are similar to elderberry leaves, bronze green during all vegetative period. Yellowish – white, fragrant flowers are arranged in small, sparse, branched panicles. Root – creepy rootstock. Blooms in July.
Ecology. Grows in light, fertile, humus-rich, moist soil in partially shaded, cool place that is protected from the wind. In sunny place it requires regular watering. Is replanted rarely, grows in one place for several decades.
Importance. Very decorative wintergreen. Suitable for wintergreen flower beds in shaded areas.
