Distribution. Nephrolepis cordifolia ‘Plumosa’ widespread culture.
Morphology. Evergreen, perennial caulescent plant - fern with 30-40 cm long, wide, green, pinnately compound leaves, on strong, stable, standing branch. Grown-up plant rosette consists of 30 leaves. The plant develops aerial roots, which achieve the soil and form young shoots. Tubers can be formed in the roots. Tubers accumulate nutrients. Spores develop on lower side of perennial plants` leaves. Does not bloom.
Ecology. Grows in light room that is protected from direct sunlight. All the year optimal air temperature is 18-24 ◦C. Requires regular and moderate watering with soft, warm water. Does not suffer too dry air, in this case the leaves and air around the plant should be moistened. Roots are sensitive to excessive watering and aridity. It is grown in water and air permeable, slightly acidic, light, humus rich soil. It is not replanted every year. To replant, aerial roots should not be cut-off, but twined round the root ball to form more young shoots. It should be fertilized every week with fertilizers for not-flowering plants. It is propagated by division of the bush and by young shoots that are grown with the help of aerial roots.
Importance. Beautiful foliage plant. It is grown in separate pot. Excellent ground covering plant in winter garden under large plants. Grows well with epiphytes.
